Degrees of protection provided by enclosures (IP Code)

This standard is published by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) and defines the protection levels of equipment enclosures against solid objects (such as dust) and liquids (such as water).

In other words, when a device is rated with a specific IP code, it indicates the enclosure’s ability to protect against dust ingress and water penetration under defined conditions.
